These ciders were received for free as samples from the cidery. For more information on our sample policy, please click here.

Inspired by the popularity of Prosecco and Rosé, Woodchuck recently released Bubbly Pearsecco and Rosé, its cider twists on the classic wines. We had the chance to try out these two new ciders.

Bubbly Pearsecco

Cider Info:

Cidery: Woodchuck

Origin: Middlebury, VT, USA

ABV: 6.1%

Color: Pale gold, clear

Aroma: Ripe pear and apple

Flavor Profile: Apple-lemon flavor upfront. Pear flavor emerges about a third of the way through the sip and remains the dominant flavor for the rest of the sip. Pear, apple, and lemon comprise the aftertaste.

Body: Between light and medium, leaning toward light

Sweetness: Semi-dry

Acidity: Between light and medium

Tannin: None

Carbonation: High

Quick Thoughts:

Ramsay: Solid entry cider for someone who is unfamiliar with cider and looking to break into the cider scene.

Julia: With its high carbonation and sweet notes, Pearsecco is definitely reminiscent of Prosecco wine, and due to its similarity in taste to a sparkling wine, it’d make for a good introductory cider for someone who loves wine but is hesitant to branch into cider.

Bubbly Rosé

Cider Info:

Cidery: Woodchuck

Origin: Middlebury, VT, USA

ABV: 6.1%

Color: Pink with purple hue, clear

Aroma: Juicebox apple juice

Flavor Profile: Ever so slight bite upfront. Very sweet apple flavor comes through and remains the dominant flavor for the remainder of the sip and into the aftertaste.

Body: Between light and medium, leaning toward light

Sweetness: Sweet

Acidity: Low

Tannin: None

Carbonation: Relatively low

Quick Thoughts:

Ramsay: This was quite sweet for me, but it could work as a dessert cider.

Julia: As someone who prefers dry ciders, this was a bit too sweet for my tastes. That said, if you like sweet drinks, you’ll enjoy this.
