Our Review of the Cider
Julia's Thoughts and Rating:
Summer Blend has a pleasant, summery aroma of apple and ginger. Upon sipping the cider, there is a sharp bite, as well as a bit of tingling on the tongue. Once that initial sharpness tones down a bit, a lemon flavor with secondary notes of a tart-sweet apple (e.g., McIntosh) comes through. A high amount of acidity is present at this point, and it remains throughout the entire sip. After a second or so, the tart-sweet apple flavor momentarily overtakes the lemon flavor before becoming secondary to a lemon-ginger flavor. Lemon and ginger remain the dominant flavors for the rest of the sip and into the aftertaste. This is a semi-dry cider that is in between light and medium bodied, leaning more toward medium. It has a medium level of carbonation and no tannin.
Overall, I quite enjoyed Summer Blend. It tasted like a tart ginger lemonade, making it a great choice for hot summer days. The high amount of acidity kept the cider from ever tasting too sweet, and it also gave the cider a lip-smacking finish, leaving you wanting another sip. I would definitely drink this again.
Ramsay's Thoughts and Rating:
With the first sip, I got a sharp bite upfront that lingered for about half of the sip before quickly fading. Should note that it was less sharp after the first sip.
Feels medium bodied.
This has a high amount of acidity. It is immediately noticeable and doesn't taper off until about the halfway point of the sip. Then, it quickly drops off and mellows out.
Summer Blend has a medium amount of carbonation. Started to feel it more in my gut after 3/4 of the glass, but it never felt uncomfortable.
No noticeable tannin in this.
Summer Blend's flavor makes it a solid drink choice for summer. In the first 1/2 of the sip, I get a lemon/citrus and ginger flavor. Both are equally quite potent in profile, leaving a tingling feeling on the tip of my tongue. After that, the lemon/citrus starts becoming less pronounced, and the apple flavor becomes more noticeable until the end of the sip. Both the ginger and apple flavors remain into the aftertaste, with ginger being the dominant flavor.
This cider came off as being semi-dry. Not too many sweet notes to pick up on with a slight lip-smacking finish.
Overall, Summer Blend's flavor profile made this another refreshing summer drink. The ginger flavor gives this a unique taste and helps it stand out among other ciders. Might be too full bodied and gingery for me to have multiple at once, but still a good choice to have at a bar or restaurant.
